After the huge success of Tata Safari in SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) segment, India’s third largest passenger car manufacturer Tata Motors has planned to launch stylish MUV (Multi Utility Vehicle) model Tata Aria in the Indian auto market. Tata Aria is a versatile cross-over which will be loaded with all stylish features that any premium SUV offer and it will take place between MUV and SUV. Tata Aria is an eight seater luxurious MUV model build on roadster concept that Tata Motors displayed Geneva Motor Show in year 2000. With the launch of Tata Aria the company plans make its position stronger also in premium vehicle segment. The company however not disclosed the exact prices of Tata Aria but it the company official indicates that it might be priced in the range of Rs 12 to 15 lacs. The company plans to launch Tata Aria with highly competitive price tag to give tough competition to other models of its segment like Ford Endeavour, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Innova, Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Captiva, Toyota Fortuner and yet to launch Skoda Yeti.

Japanese auto major Nissan planning to launch its most awaited premium hatchback model Nissan Micra in Indian market in May 2010. Nissan Micra is a five door A-segment small hatchback model which will be launched in Indian market as a joint venture with Renault. Nissan is working aggressively to launch Nissan Micra in Indian market and it has recently setup its manufacturing plant at Chennai as a joint venture with Renault and it has invested Rs 4,500 crore for this project. This new manufacturing plant has the capacity to produce 4 lacs unit of car per year but initially Nissan will produce only two lacs unit of cars. The company official said that they are planning to launch Nissan Micra in Indian market in the month of May or in June 2010.

After the huge success of Mitsubishi Outlander in premium SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) segment, now Japanese auto manufacturer, Mitsubishi Motors plans to launch its luxury sedan Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X in Indian auto market. Mitsubishi Lancer Evo is a luxurious sedan model that is expected to be launched in Indian market by the end of this November or in the month of December this year. Mitsubishi Motors will launch this car in India as a joint venture with Hindustan Motors. Mitsubishi Lancer is loaded with an array of exciting features including its exteriors, interiors and safety measures. According to the company officials Mitsubishi Motors will bring Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) through import and they will decide whether this car can be manufactured here locally or not. Bringing it as a CBU may push the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X price to high end. In International market the car costs $30,473 (Rs 12 lakh) to $32,697 (Rs 13 lakh) for different variants but after adding the import duties Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X price will lead to Rs 21.70 lakh to Rs 23.5 lakh.

Homegrown auto company, Tata Motors displayed a new vehicle based on electric power in Delhi Auto Expo 2010. The electric car is based on New Tata India Vista and hence named as Tata Indica Vista Electric (electric). The new electric car by Tata was also showcased at 79th Geneva motor show last year. The car is being developed and produced in Norway by Tata Motors' UK subsidiary, Tata Motors European Technical Centre. Miljo Innovasjon, the subsidiary of Tata Motors who is developing the car, had selected TM4 to provide electric motors. The semi-knocked down kits are to be exported from India to Norway for assembling. The first electric vehicle by Tata's is believed to be launched in India by 2011. The car will be launched in Norway first during 2010 and will have left hand drive.
